Calling all service users and carers, young and old - tell us YOUR story

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Scottish Voices would like to hear from service users and carers who work with students and university staff to support the improvement of social work education and those who work with other organisations such as the Social Work Inspection Agency (SWIA), the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (IRISS) and the Learning Networks, to support improvements across social services.

We would like to provide an opportunity to share YOUR story on our website as an inspiration to others. Once written, you might like to share your story with other publications or newsletters.

Below we have set out a few questions for you to consider which might help you tell your story. These questions are just there as guidelines to help you think about this subject but your story is unique and we are keen to find out about YOU - so write from the heart!

  • Who are you and what, if any, service user or carer groups do you belong to?
  • What organisations or people have you been involved with? (eg universities, Learning Networks, Scottish Government)
  • Why do you get involved with trying to support improvements in social work and social services?
  • What sort of things have you done since being involved?
  • What are the benefits to YOU of being involved?
  • What difference do you think your involvement makes?
  • What is the best part for you of being involved?
  • Is there anything that might make your involvement even better?

Stories can be written (approx 500 words) or we can organise for your story to be recorded which will then be available on the website as a podcast.
