Monday, October 16, 2006

Aim

The project is a joint initiative of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and the Scottish Institute for Excellence in Social Work Education. It was established in June 2004 to implement the recommendations in the "Confidence in Practice Learning paper".

The three key priorities of the project are to:

  • Work with key stakeholders to increase the quality, variety and quantity of practice learning opportunities
  • Promote the development of a learning culture throughout social work and social care including the development of Learning Networks
  • Review the Practice Teaching Award and develop an alternative modular award.

Originally funded for a two year period, the SPLP will continue until March 2008. During this period, priority will be to embed practice learning, promote learning culture, and support the development of Learning Networks and new Practice Learning Qualifications.
